Sentio triumphs in EIT Urban Mobility Citython 2023
In today's dynamic world, innovation is the key to success, especially in the field of technology. That's why we are proud to announce that our company has won the top prize in the renowned EIT Urban Mobility Citython 2023 accelerator, presenting a new Garbage Collector project, the results of which will be implemented in AutoHiver. Garbage Collector is an automatic planner of optimal schedules and routes for municipal waste collection.
We all know that waste segregation is necessary, but it significantly increases the cost of transporting waste from our households to landfills. Now garbage trucks come to us more often. Once for mixed waste, other times for plastics. The lengths of waste pickup routes have thus doubled, followed by transportation costs and ultimately our garbage collection bills. Waste transportation costs now account for 50 to 75 percent of waste management expenses.
At Garbage Collector, we are developing algorithm technology for automatically generating optimal schedules and routes for garbage trucks, which can increase fleet efficiency by up to 20%, reduce waste transportation costs by up to 40%, and reduce planning and preparation time for changes in schedules and routes by up to 60%.
Citithon is implemented by INVESTIN Sp. z o.o., and the institutional partner is the Rzeszow City Hall. The Poznań Institute of Technology - the second largest Lukasiewicz Institute in Poland - is the substantive partner.
"We are extremely excited and proud to have been recognized in such a prestigious competition as Citython. It's confirmation for us that our innovation and technology efforts have been recognized by industry experts." - says Jolanta Koszelew, vice president of Sentio.
Winning the Citython is not only a prestigious award, but also opens new doors for Sentio in a new market - the WASTE MANAGEMENT industry. The company plans to further develop the project, working with the organizer and gas pedal partners.
The development of the Garbage Collector project is worth following, as it could be a milestone in the transformation of the waste management industry and become a model for other ventures that strive for efficiency, sustainability and harnessing the potential of technology for the benefit of society.
